The City of London Police has a long track record of organising sports clubs and winning trophies. Form the early days of the Police Service, officers and cadets were encourage to take part in Sports activities. In 1875 a Col Police Cricket team played at the Oval and in 1886 a swimming club was formed. Other early water sports included water tug-of-war and water polo, which was very successful in the early 20th century. City Police officers have represented Great Britain in almost every modern Olympic Games, including water polo, wrestling, shooting, swimming, rowing, boxing and Tug of war. In total officers have won 6 medals. The most famous Olympic victory was the Tug-of-War team in 1920.
