04.Living with air raids

Letter transcript: Dear Enid, I am writing this letter in the air raid shelter. Two little girls are leaning over my shoulder asking can they write a letter as well. We are keeping very well in spite of old Hitler. He will never break our spirit. We had bombs near here on Monday night and 11 were killed. We keep wondering when our turn will be. We just go to bed and wake up thankful. We are hoping to have a nice Christmas in spite of it all. We can't have the usual turkey but we are having a chicken instead. Eggs are very scarce and we can't get any onions at all, otherwise we have done very well for food. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and happy 1941. Your sincere friend, Bessy
