50. Jukebox

I’m on cloud nine! See that jukebox? It’s a classic from the '60s. And it plays music that’s all about me, Berlin! Music from 1945 to the present. What a thrill! There’s swing and rock, punk and rap. The range is incredible! So many cool musicians have a song about their Berlin! I’m inspiring, the real thing, d’you know? For some I’m the city of dreams! For others the city of nightmares. No one likes my winters. Granted, I’m not easy to deal with. But no wonder, after all that’s happened to me. Music is perfect to express whatever you feel. So, people sing about their troubles with me. Or they write me a love song. Just listen, I tell’ ya! Those songs are something very special: they’re like my musical portrait.

Märkisches Museum

Due to the current circumstances we invite you to take a digital tour through the permanent exhibition BerlinZEIT. The Stadtmuseum Berlin presents at Märkisches Museum a host of artefacts related to the culture and history of the city. A strong level of civic engagement had already led to the foundation of the Museum in 1874. From 1899 to 1908 architect Ludwig Hoffmann designed this first city museum in the world.
