You have now entered the hallway on the second floor. Be sure to admire the wooden door case. It is made of wood from Baroque era church furniture. Against the windows you see four sculptures by Harry Elstrøm. You already met this sculptor in the hallway to the Main Reading Room. These four Evangelists also served as designs for the Basilica of Koekelberg, where on the exterior they decorate the entrance portal. To the right of the stairs there is the entrance to the library tower. During the five-story climb you may enjoy a photo exhibition that will tell you even more about the history of the University Library and the significance of the building for the city. After the fifth floor, you will reach the tower’s balcony and you will be rewarded with a unique panorama of Leuven. You can purchase tickets at the reception desk. Going up the stairs will lead you to the exhibition rooms to the Rode Gang, the "Red Corridor", named after the red tiles on the floor.
You can purchase tickets at the reception desk.
We have now come to the end of the audio tour. You can relive this tour by registering at the Map My Visit-desk downstairs. Upon leaving the library building, please return this audio guide to the reception desk. We would like to thank you for your visit and we wish you a very nice day!
