Pablo Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. He experimented throughout his life with different materials, styles and forms and worked in many artistic disciplines. His inexhaustible creative urge resulted in 35,000 works of art, including many sculptures. Picasso was convinced of his talent at an early age. He was famously quoted as saying: ‘When I was young my mother said to me, “If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general. If you become monk, you’ll be Pope." Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso.’
