Moored between two poles, the boat lies motionless in the water. In the cabin a vague figure can be discerned, probably Monet himself. The larger part of the painting depicts the slow-moving river. The artist offers us an unforgettable impression with this painting: the calm of his boat on the water on a late summer day.
